How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

The past came back to haunt him...

On Sunday, we had to be in Selama for oil palm harvesting and we decided to take a drive to Kulim to see the much hyped Industrial Estate and also to patronise the Kulim Golf & Country Club. Anyway, we got to see Kulim Hi-tech Park instead and because of heavy rain we took refuge in KG&GC. Briefly, what we saw in both places were the usual symbolic structures at the entrance next to the signs and the actual place has seen better days. A part of the clubhouse roof was actually leaking.

On our way, we saw big posters of Sheikh Aziz and I told my wife that if I am not mistaken, he was the one who threatened to burn down Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall.

I was right. On our return, when I checked the internet news, it was already reported that SCAH had issued a statement calling the voters not to vote for him!

Yesterday, my wife had to make another trip to Selama and told me on her return that all Aziz’s posters have been replaced with that of Pak Lah! It would be interesting to know how he would fare in this election. The voters should send a message to all ambitious young men that the route to become leaders for all races should not be by being champions of a race. Perhaps he was following the examples of Najib and Hishamuddin.
