How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

BRT - Invaluable advice from someone who knows

Jakarta's BRT has boarding problems

Mexico City's Metrobus BRT - few buses, higher system capacity

(Pictures from Paul Barter's site, with thanks)

I got a pleasant surprise when Paul Barter, whose blog, Reinventing Urban Transport, and post, BRT - DOs and DON'Ts (Part One) http://reinventingtransport.blogspot.com/2008/09/brt-dos-and-donts-part-one.html , commented on my earlier post, Bus Rapid Transport – the answer to Penang Islang’s public transport system

I find his blogsite with a tagline, ‘making urban transport more of the answer and less of the problem…’ very informative, having obviously done much research on BRT.

To me, a must visit for those involved in the planning of urban transport in general and BRT, in particular. At least, we can learn from the DOs and DON'Ts!
