How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Sex equality?

Men used to be hunters and women domesticated. Over a long period of time, changes in roles evolved from women liberation and sexual equality movements, and sex discrimination was outlawed. In the process, some kids got influenced by remnants of certain adult's discriminatory attitude, like for instance, this answer to a question:

In fighting for sex equality which includes equal opportunity for work and so on, what we see now seems to be roles reversal, where there are more and more wives working and husbands becoming house husbands or having home office to carry out their work or business. The following pictures show what could have been the husband telling the wife, 'since you want more say and equal opportunity, you should be able to handle this for a change'. Looking at them in a different perspective, 'choice of husband from different countries - take your pick':

c'mon, you cannot even tell if the person carrying the bottles in the "Polish" picture is a woman.

Fortunately we still live in this old-fashioned country where the expression "ladies first" makes you gentlemen rather than barbarian.

all the best and happy birthday

Comments at last, thanks Dominik for the birthday wish as well.

These days, we cannot tell from appearance and dressing alone. So the tall one could be the wife who wears the pants, like most Hakka women from Pusing (create more enemies already).

How does one celebrate birthday home alone? "Happy Birthday to me, Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me and me, Happy birthday to me."

At least I got a call and birthday wishes from Cheng and BK at 7.40am ie. 1.40am Dutch time. They actually waited so as not to wake me too early, before they said goodbye and off to sleep. Towards the afternoon, Nee called to wish me on her way to Univ. in the morning UK time.

Best wishes from me.
