How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

How is BN going to win over the people of Perak?

Earlier this evening, my wife got back from the north and told me that she passed Bukit Gantang rest area around 6.00pm and noticed that the Ministry of Tourism billboard showing the smiling faces of Pak Lah, Najib and Azalina, had Najib’s face poured with red paint already. She looked at the rear view mirror and noticed it was the same on the side facing those going northwards.
This morning, Batu Gajah residents were already talking about our Sultan’s scheduled appearance here that had been postponed. Just imagine, his place of birth which has his alma mater bearing his father's name. I am sure the residents here will miss his fairly regular presence.

Just watched the news, and we had the Perak CPO informing us that all the roads going into Kuala Kangsar will be closed for the swearing in ceremony of the new Excos, and warning that strict action will be taken against demonstrators. Already, we have 24-hour road blocks around Ipoh.

Is this the way to go?

From now on, all future government functions will be with strong police presence, while the criminals will be free to roam the place?

The new MB has started the BN culture of distributing money as a way of winning over the people.

We hear Hee Yit Foong will be given an Exco post. Will she be operating with bodyguards and within the State Secretariat Building, without having to meet the public? The public has an unusual way of reacting to someone who betrayed their trust, like refusing to sell vegetables to her parent!

We are dying to know how Najib will be able to campaign for Bukit Gantang as Perak Umno Chief, against PAS’s likely candidate in Nizar!

With money, with money...that's the only way they know.

I remember an incident in Taipei when I got into a cab. The driver condemned Chen Sui Bian as a corrupted goo-for-nothing guy who conned the masses whereas he said Ma Ying Jiu was compassionate and warm-hearted. There you are for money politics!

As long as there are people who would do anything for money, it will work in Malaysia.
