How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

The end is nigh...

My late mother used to say in Hokien, 'oo lung barn kim, boh lung ching sim'. Direct translation into English means, 'there are people with ten thousands of gold but nobody with peace of mind'.

I would like to think of it in terms of people who cannot have everything in life. A poor man with many children, of both gender, wishes to be rich but cannot get out of the poverty trap. A rich man worth USD billions might not have any heir, let alone wishing for a male.

I have been following 'Flaming Butterfly' on TV8 at 8.30pm every Monday to Friday (coming to an end) where the rich man has 3 wives. His first wife had a son who is married but turns out to be gay. Actually, I cannot agree with the assumption that to be gay is equivalent to being impotent or sterile.

His second wife had a daughter (marriage of convenience and divorced without a child) and a son who is married but his pregnant wife lost her baby when she was pushed from top of the stairs, and confirmed unable to conceive again. His third wife has a son about to get married, who is actually conceived from a secret affair with her brother-in-law, his brother.

When he was told about the DNA test which confirmed the fact, he disowned his only brother. His brother was distraught and was knocked down by a vehicle and died soon after. Upon hearing the news, he had a stroke. When his third wife visited him in hospital, he pushed her away and he fell from the bed and died. He did not get to have a grand child much as he wished for and despite his wealth.

Anyway, in this video clip, the scene is similar to Adam and Eve, so there is the assumption that the billions of people on earth must have been wiped out!

As I have mentioned earlier, I cannot agree with the assumption that being gay is necessarily being impotent or sterile.
