How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

If you're not going to speak up, how is the world supposed to know you exist? “Orang boleh pandai setinggi langit, tapi selama ia tidak menulis, ia akan hilang di dalam masyarakat dan dari sejarah.” - Ananta Prameodya Toer (Your intellect may soar to the sky but if you do not write, you will be lost from society and to history.)

Down but not out...result of virus attack

fortunately, not H1N1 which caused 44 fatalities at the last count.

Now, I am back to this old desk top using Windows 98, and realized that my old Yahoo (new one requires Windows XP) mail cannot be opened! This old computer was promised to our cleaner's grandchild and on second thought, decided not to, as it would create more headaches for me having to look after the IT needs of a 9-year old when I could not look after myself!

Just imagine the number of new versions we have to contend with in terms of browsers like Internet Explorer, Google, Yahoo and so on, besides having to keep up with newer versions of Windows or other operating systems.
The hand me down notebooks from my daughters using Windows XP involve other problems to do with answering questions for updates and so on. Maybe it is time for me to get a brand new netbook and hope that it will be free of all these problems. But, only after I have tried all the remedies...being a 'waste not want not' person.
