How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

MB of Perak: what now after Federal Court decision?

What now, after the Federal Court decision on who is the rightful Menteri Besar of Perak?

If anything, it is just a legal victory for BN, with more than half the voters feeling cheated of their choice as to which coalition should form the state government.

The precarious slim majority of BN's 31 (28 plus 3 so-called independents but friendly to BN) against PR's 28.

2 of the 3 state assemblymen are awaiting court proceedings with criminal charges against them. Are we to expect, as widely perceived, that the prosecution will, according to cues, bungle in court and let the 2 off scot-free? This would reinforce the perception that they were entrapped in the first place. One of them even sang praises of how well he is being treated by BN! Who wouldn't feel it that way? A sex treat and bribe and yet likely to be let off with plenty of cash where that came from? Why wouldn't BN fete on them? They made it possible for BN's power grab of Perak, big heroes deserving titles like DPMP (Dulu pandai main perempuan) bestowed by the rakyat.

The Perakians are also wondering, Why is it so difficult to have an Assembly sitting to decide on Nizar? This essential requirement seems to have been evaded thus far, despite having a clear, though slim majority with the inclusion of the 3 turncoats.

The political lives of the 3 turncoats have been effectively shortened to last only until the next elections. They are unable to face their electorates, let alone service them. A friend who was at a restaurant where Hee was spotted, said she had 2 tough looking guys who presumably were her bodyguards. She scowled at anyone who looked at her! But she will certainly have a prosperous Chinese New Year!
