How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Why Pakatan and Anwar in particular, is such a threat...

to Barisan Nasional.

Tun Dr. Mahathir is known for opting for a handful of Malay billionaires instead of benefiting more Malays.

Rm5 billion (5 x 1,000,000,000) benefited 5 persons only with a Rm1 billion each.

Anwar Ibrahim would prefer benefiting more people based on need, the majority of which comprises Malays.

Rm5 billion can be better distributed by way of Rm1,000 each to 1,000,000 people; or
Rm10,000 each to 100,000 people; and so on.

Lim Guan Eng's policy of distributing Rm100 to each senior citizen of Penang was considered a 'bribe' by a Gerakan leader and we know how Dr. Teng was severely criticized for such a suggestion.

While we are at this stage of explanation, Rm100 to 10,000 senior citizens would amount to Rm1,000,000 only. I am not privy to the exact number but this example helps to show it more clearly. Compare this with Rm2,000,000 bonuses (decided by PM to be arrears) for BAM officials AFTER Lee Chong Wei's victory at the All-England Championship, and we know the difference in priority. I am not complaining so much about the decision to reward the officials but the ease the PM can decide on huge amounts elsewhere as well, without getting into trouble.

How much is a Trillion dollars?

This is the number we are hearing so much about. What is a trillion dollars? Well, it is a million million. It is a thousand billion. It is a one followed by 12 zeros. $1,000,000,000, 000.
