How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Reason for refusing a Rm30 million donation to UTAR...

could be as simple as this Rm200,000 cheque to fund Pakatan's legal expenses...

In our political narrow-mindedness, 'Either you are with us, or against us' seems highly probable.
The University Council should be held responsible for this missed opportunity to improve the quality of student life in the campus.

As long as UTAR is run by a political body that uses this institution for political mileage, this will happen. Additionally a study should be done to find out the ownership of the residential and shophouses in the vicinity of UTAR (though such an exercise doesn't sound very feasible) to see if they are indeed owned by those affiliated with MCA.
