How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

The ever elusive definition of Malay

According to John Doe,

"If we look at Malayans today, who speak English, and dress in western clothes (yes, even the t-shirt and shorts do not resemble any Asian clothing like the Sarong, the Au Yai, nor the Cheongsam) then Malayan must ALL be Westerners !! This thus, makes all Malayans Caucasoids?..."

"Although he has South Indian roots, he says: 'I am a Malay and am proud of it. I am a Malay not just on paper. I am also a Malay in sentiment and in spirit', The Star reported."

"He was careful NOT to mention anything about DNA. The very essence of the Anwar trial. He, as a Medical Doctor, should have known. Here is the mouldy fossil telling the entire world that one can change his race. Is he correct?"

Well, correct or not, in my humble opinion, for all the chest-thumping by the likes of Ibrahim Ali, Tun Dr. Mahathir became Prime Minister for 22 years! He is by definition a Malay! It does not matter whether he speaks Tamil or Hindi at home with his close relatives, nor if he was unIslamic in his actions, like persecuting his fellow Malay for years and still doing it relentlessly. Whether his cheap shots with sleazy details of Anwar are statesmanlike, credible or not, he sold more than 5,000 books at Rm100 each on the first day! Not that he needs the money, but it fed his ego well.
