How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

Something stupid

The other day, I left for KL and after travelling some 50 km, I realized I forgot about my mobile phone which was being charged supposedly for only 10 minutes. I thought I would definitely remember but these days, my memory is such that any distraction (can expect from wife telling me 'two things at a time') and I would forget what I had in mind to do. That morning I had received an email forwarding some old pictures about the dashboard of a car burnt because of a faulty car charger. So you can imagine my secret worry about my forgetfulness which might cause a house fire while both of us were out of town. The fact that it was resting on a paper pack of tea added to my initial worry.

Later at night, just before we set off for home from PJ, I called our house number and it was ringing. Then I called my mobile phone, and it was ringing! At least that gave me some peace of mind then, that it is still working and not melted and probably started a fire.

I was also lucky to have brought along my other phone (HTC) which I have yet to master using it. I was forced to learn more about it while using it. It would have been a big problem without a handphone especially on that day.

Sometimes, we do feel happier to discover there are some others who are worse than us, which in this case, means more silly...

The lack of common sense seems obvious...

Is this to satisfy its own hunger pangs?

Sorry Madam, you might be able to use a computer, but we think it is about time you think of retirement...
