How should we judge a government?

In Malaysia, if you don't watch television or read newspapers, you are uninformed; but if you do, you are misinformed!

"If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience - Mark Twain

Why we should be against censorship in a court of law: Publicity is the very soul of justice … it keeps the judge himself, while trying, under trial. - Jeremy Bentham

"Our government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no
responsibility at the other. " - Ronald Reagan

For politicians, it is always a case of 'damn if you do damn if you don't'

Critics of Najib playing golf in sunny Hawaii with President Obama have been asked, 'What about Anwar, Dr Wan Azizah and Guan Eng holidaying overseas too?'

Why not let Anwar be the PM first before criticising and comparing his duties towards the people with the PM?

They seem to have forgotten unlike the responsibilities that go with the top position held by Najib, Anwar has the BIG worry over the final verdict which the esteemed Federal Court judges are still sitting on. He could remain free or end up in jail for a number of years. So his present freedom to enjoy time with his family should not be considered as being indulgent and uncaring. He had been jailed before and had been through hell alone, his wife and children left to fend for themselves. How many of his supporters or voters visited him when he was in there? Only in Malaysia that we have a credible opposition leader having to face sodomy charges twice over 16 years (probably the only one having to face this particular seldom used charge) just because the ruling elite are bankrupt of ideas to stop him.

It didn't matter to the critics of Anwar, Dr Wan Azizah and Guan Eng that their constituencies and the states of Penang and Selangor are not those badly affected by the floods. As we have seen, even with PM rushing back from US and wading the flood waters, there were complaints of the VVIPs having used helicopters which could have been used by patients instead.

Then there were reports of a village head who stopped those from the opposition from helping his villagers; Perak state refusing aid from Selangor; and of course, those who seek publicity to gain political mileage. That the rice bags and other packages had to be labelled first with pictures of BN leaders before distribution is proof of their shamelessness in using public funds for their own benefit.
